Patient Testimonials

  • This testimonial is for Dr. Peter Kok. Dr. Kok diagnosed and then surgically repaired my torn rotator cuff in my right arm. I have three 1/2 in incisions and my recovery was quick and uneventful. I found Dr Kok to be very responsive to my questions, straightforward, and an excellent surgeon. I have full range of motion in my right arm after complete healing. I highly recommend him. I couldn't be more pleased.

  • I had hip replacement last September with Dr Sloan. He is incredible very friendly professional and did a fantastic job on my hip. I was in pretty bad pain and mobility was very limited -surgery lasted about an hour and a half and I woke up in recovery with no pain at all. I was walking that afternoon without a cane, walker or crutch. Never experienced any post surgery pain just a little sore and was out walking my dogs a week and a half later. I can’t say enough good things about Dr Sloan , his staff and the healthcare professionals at Emerson hospital-highly recommend them all-absolutely no problems at all Should have done it years ago‼️

  • I recently underwent shoulder replacement surgery with Dr. Re. at the Clough center at Emerson Hospital. I was told he was the best orthopedic surgeon in the area, and I certainly agree with that recommendation. He is kind, professional, courteous, and he takes his time explaining procedures clearly. I also would like to give accolades to Dr. Gregory Gardner, anesthesiologist, I was very, very anxious prior to my surgery, and he put me at ease and was very understanding of my situation. I need to mention the staff both at Dr. Re’s office and the Clough center, everyone involved with my surgery was amazing with me. I have never dealt with a greater more caring staff. They are wonderful!

Donald Driscoll, MD

Dr. Driscoll replaced my left knee 2 mos. ago. I am finally pain free. After 4 years of visiting many different doctors, Dr. Driscoll accurately diagnosed my problem and I'm now a surgical cure! Fabulous doctor in all respects and spent an inordinate amount of time explaining all my options.

John McInnis, MD

I see two Doctors in this group and am very pleased with the care as well as the overall comfort of the appointment, time with the Doctors and very pleasant office staff.
Dr McInnis is the best! He is caring, concerned and professional. I had both knees replaced and did my pre-op and post-op exercises and have had no issues. His staff is great and efficient. I would recommend Dr John McInnis to anyone who needs knee replacement surgery.
Excellent practitioner with compassionate care to every detail Dr. McInnis performed two hip replacements for me and, as it happened, my wife as well. We are both in robust, active good health after these four surgeries. He or his partner was there with us every day of hospital care including weekends, They followed up on every aspect of our care and comfort. Through the years of these surgeries, he clearly worked to explore new treatment methods and techniques. In addition to his cheerful and engaged manner he is also an outstanding practitioner.
I have had both of my knees replaced by Dr. John McInnis. The first replacement was done when I was 50, the second knee done 7 years later. My cartiledge wore out due to osteoarthritis. Dr. McInnis is not only an amazing surgeon, but a caring and compassionate Doctor. I am so grateful to him.
I had a full hip replacement .. and could not be more pleased with Dr McInnis. He's great! He did an excellent job for me before, during and after my surgery. And he truly loves what he does -- it shows in his concern for his patients, and his patience in taking time to address all questions & concerns. I heartily recommend him!
Best doctor I have ever had. Charming
This guy CARES about his patients AND the joints he installs. He does NOT want recipients to overwork them. I.e., he gives PT staff special instructions. When I see him, I always feel I am his #1 priority. (He did a knee, a hip, & monitored a fractured pelvis, 3 separate events.) Downside is he's always busy and appointments usually take 3 weeks if it's not a real emergency, and naturally "my needs" ALWAYS seem incredibly important to me, so it's ALWAYS an emergency (but I don't ask for that).
Full right knee replacement; surgery and rehabilitation went well without complication. Now 3 years removed from the surgery, knee still great.

Paul Re, MD

I have had 3 surgeries with Dr. Re and would recommend him highly
Paul is a very skilled physician and surgeon. I came to him again for my left shoulder rotator cuff because of his excellence in repairing my right shoulder six years ago. There is no need to seek out a Boston hospital when there is quality medical care right here at Emerson and Concord Orthopedic Affiliates.
Dr. Re recently performed an arthroscopy/bone spur removal on my shoulder. I found him to be kind and supportive to me both pre and post-op; he is a man of few words but is clearly a very intelligent man and an excellent surgeon. While he wastes no words, he patiently listened and responded to my questions and made sure that I understood, on the first post-op office visit, that I need to slowly ease back into my activities, sensing how impatient I am to get going now that he has fixed my arm.
Best Shoulder Guy there is!
Dr. Re fixed a very complicated fib-tib fracture on my husband, who now walks with little or no trouble - something that was doubtful when he went in for that surgery. Dr. Re also diagnosed and repaired my messed up shoulder, leaving me happy with no residual problems at all. A brilliant, caring, gentle professional whose focus is all about helping the patient. Not a man who is chatty, but listens very carefully and works wonders. He is the best.
He was able to fix my frozen shoulder without surgery. Really cares about his patients
Dr. Re performed amazing, successful surgeries on both my husband and me. He's also encouraging, gives patient, thoughtful information, and is funny to boot.
Dr. Re was one of the kindest, most professional doctors I've ever met. He fixed my rotator cuff with two painless cortisone shots and was very honest about my not needing surgery, which I was dreading to hear from a surgeon! The best guy, and not just because he cured me.
I fell while hiking and injured my shoulder - dislocated, broken socket bone, torn rotator cuff, torn ligaments, torn tendons. In short my shoulder was a mess. My orthopedic surgeon, and friend, recommended I have surgery with Dr. Re. Surgery went as described, and recovery progressed exactly as predicted. Now six months later I am still healing. But, I have almost complete range of motion and am rapidly re-gaining strength. Dr Re did remarkable work to put the shoulder back together.
Someone told me he was the best shoulder surgeon in Boston. Well he fixed mine! Highly recommended.
Excellent results on two separate injuries
I have been a patient of Dr. Re's for over 5 years and he's performed surgery on both knees ~ Kneecap realignments and lateral releases for both. It's like he's given me a new lease on life and I can get around so much easier and without the pain I had. He takes the time to explain the procedures and makes sure I was at ease. We even had some great laughs along the way. The bonus is the staff that supports him is fabulous and is almost like an extended part of our family now. I recommend Dr. Re highly!
Excellent experience. Highly recommend Dr. Re.
Dr. Re is the best, nicest doctor I've ever seen about anything. He saved my frozen shoulder (was honest that I didn't need surgery) and two cortisone shots later (painless) I've made a full recovery.
Dr. Re is the kind of doctor you always hope to find but so rarely do these days. His technical skills were certainly in evidence when he had to rebuild my shoulder "the old fashioned way" with bone grafts , due to my allergy to metals. Dr. Re rescued me after a very bad experience at another facility - he saved my shoulder and my sanity. He also treated this patient as a person, not just as a profit making unit. Dr. Re always takes time to not only see me himself but the time to explain, encourage, and reassure. He also makes sure his whole team operates in this more humane and definitely more effective way. Truly amazing doctor and an exceptional human being!
Dr. Re was very accommodating in scheduling surgery very soon after a torn ACL (sports injury), allowing our daughter to return to college on time. Her recovery from surgery has been stellar, all questions are carefully considered and answered. We feel that she is in very capable and competent hands. It is a long road to full recovery but feel that Dr. Re's experience and competence has given her a head start!
Straight forward and caring. I saw many surgeons before him who couldn't give me an answer. He examined me first and then did his own interpretation of the MRI himself while other rely on the radiologist, Dr Re read it himself and found things other had missed. He helped and fixed me where others could not
I was actually in seeing Dr. Driscoll who called in Dr. Re when my MRI revealed I had no ACL. So, without being on his schedule, Dr. Re came in and reviewed my MRI, examined my knee and helped lead a wonderful, helpful conversation about my medical situation. When I left, I offered to pay for Dr. Re's consultation, and the office wouldn't let me! Great caring doctor!
Dr. Re is caring and dedicated without any pretention or big ego. He carefully explains all the tests and procedure that he will perform so that you understand completely. He's a star.
Direct, caring and efficient. Gave me choices rather than dictating a plan. Excellent outstanding surgical skills and reputation
A fall against my right shoulder resulted in a large tear in my rotator cuff. Dr. Re performed arthroscopic surgery on my shoulder and my arm feels great again. Dr. Re is very professional and an amazing surgeon! I would highly recommend him if you are looking for the "BEST" orthopedic surgeon to treat your injury.
Good bedside manner. Explains things well. I have had 3 surgeries with him
Dr Re is a terrific doctor. I have seen him three times. Badly torn ankle 20+ years ago. Recently had frozen shoulder, and he gave me an injection. Very professional and thorough. I have utmost confidence in his skill and liked his bedside manner. Already have recommended!

Dr Re was very kind and supportive during a difficult time. I had seen him as a second opinion and it was clear that he should perform my surgery. He and his staff made it very clear what I should expect and how long it would take to recover. He and his staff were incredibly supportive and available. His kind and low key demeanor is a perfect compliment to his surgical skills
Dr. Re is the nicest, most professional doctor and a pleasure to work with. He fixed the rotator cuff in my shoulder with two painless cortisone shots and was very honest about my NOT needing surgery, which I was dreading and afraid all doctors would do. Wonderful guy, terrific outcome for me. Highly recommend him!

Dr. Re and all of the staff were fantastic. my appt. started out as a 2nd opinion, but within minutes I knew Dr. Re was the dr. and surgeon I wanted to take care of my knee. He took the time to explain everything to me; my injury, both pre and post surgery and made me feel very comfortable with my treatment. I would recommend Dr. Re to anyone with a knee injury.
I had shoulder surgery by Dr. Re. He may not have the softest bedside manner, but he took as much time as necessary to answer all of my questions at every stage. The surgery went very well, and rehab matched the time frame he estimated with no set backs. I'd go back to him without reservation. Staff was awesome too.
I would recommend Dr. Re to anyone considering Rotator Cuff surgery
First of all, my rotator cuff surgery done by Dr. Re has been great. I now have regained full use and rotation of my arm. All done through hardly visible small incisions in my shoulder! Dr. Re is attentive, personal, and funny! We are incredibly blessed by work/attitude of a doctor like Paul Re.
I did two rotator cuff surgeries (left and right, 2 years apart) with Dr. Re and if I had another shoulder to do I would surely use him again. Excellent surgeon, follow-up appts, demeanor, and office visits to get me through the required steps of healing (pre/post surgery). Dr. Re knows his stuff and my health and comfort related to my shoulders today are a testament to his medical thoroughness and experience. A+ Highly Recommend!

Dean C. Howard, MD

I haven't been to Dr Howard in a number of years but had to see him on several occasions for difficult issues. The treatment plan always worked. I also found him to be genuinely caring and to always have several less invasive alternatives (physical therapy, course of drugs, etc) to try before anything major. This saved me a lot of pain, time and money. If I still lived nearby I would not hesitate to return to him
We were and are very pleased with Dr. Howard. He took all the time we wanted in our first two visits and patiently explained things and answered all our questions. His manner is very gentle and kind. The biggest negative is the long waits in office, but well worth it to go to a good doctor.
Dr. Dean Howard is a fantastic Orthopedic Surgeon! He operated on my right broken fibula and ankle just shy of a week ago and l honestly can't feel any pain in my leg at all. It is healing just beautifully. About 10 years ago Dr. Howard operated on my left ulner and radius and I was so pleased with the results! My range of motion has been fabulous ever since. I am a sculptor and swimmer which makes my health essential.
l was so happy to have this fine Physician be in charge of my health once again!
Dr. Howard has saved my knees for many years. I liked the Supartz, not the one shot watery stuff they do now which doesn't work.

John Cahoy, MD, PhD

after years and years of different orthopedics for all 5 members of my family, we feel so incredibly grateful to have found dr. cahoy for all of us. he cares, he understands athletes, he spends time with you and listens and he works very closely with his physical therapists. the office is well run and communication is easy. very happy!
I am a tough patient - have worked in the orthopedics business for a long time. My experience with John was exceptional. Great surgeon, great bedside manner, great follow-up, great relationship with his PT.
Dr. Cahoy recently treated my son's fractured arm. I find him knowledgeable, meticulous, responsive, and very approachable. He spent a lot of time explaining the options and procedures to us, as well as answering my son's questions and concerns. His care exceeds our expectations in every way.
Dr. Cahoy took great care of my son when he broke his arm. He was patient and very approachable. My son had an excellent outcome and I can't thank Dr. Cahoy enough!
